Welcome to my Blog!

My name is Matt and this is my tarot blog. This will act as my own personal tarot journal as well as a place for me to share insights, advice and tips on connecting with the tarot. I'll also have deck and book reviews, information on my readings and more!

Here is a little about me and my goals in life!¨

I currently live in Leicestershire, United Kingdom, though I am originally from North Wales where I lived all of my life. I have been living in the outskirts of Leicester for the past six months and I am enjoying it a lot! Although it does not have the beauty of Wales, there are a lot more opportunities and resources here for me and I am glad that this change happened!

I live here with my loving and supportive fiance Charlie, along with our various pets. I love all animals but I hold a special place in my heart for reptiles, crows and foxes. Snake is one of my major totems and I feel lucky to own three snakes of different species. Below is a photo of one of them, Ceridwen. She is very attracted to Spiritual energies and I feel that she is probably a physical embodiment of one of my familiars. Here she is 'protecting' my tarot cards!

Ceridwen seems very attracted to Spirit work!

My Spiritual Beliefs

Primarily, I am a Shintoist and a devotee of the Japanese kami (God), Inari-Okami. Inari-Okami is a deity of fertility, business, rice and even fishermen! They are represented often by white foxes (though Inari-Okami themselves are not a fox). This is of course where my tarot name comes from!

I have a close connection with Inari-Okami and they inspire me and help me provide spiritual advice to others through the tarot and other readings. I am very blessed indeed to have Inari-Okami in my life!

Aside from Shinto, I am an eclectic pagan who dabbles in Wicca, Druidry, Buddhism, Shamanism and other similar practices.

My Tarot Journey

My interest in tarot began when I was around 14 years old. At that time I was very much into Wicca and other Earth-based religions and learned about tarot through my studies. My first tarot deck was The Dragon Tarot by Peter Pracownik, which as a huge fantasy fan, I instantly fell in love with. In fact, I still own the same deck today and still offer readings with it!

My original Dragon Tarot deck

I practised tarot with my friends and family and was overwhelmed by the positive feedback I received! At this time I felt that I wanted to pursue it further but exams in school prevented me from really committing my time to tarot. And so, my deck was put aside for a few years.

At 19 years old I began to read online for people. I usually posted free reading offers in forums and performed them over Skype or email. Again, I received positive feedback and many happy customers, some who came back to me and told me that I had completely transformed their lives for the better!

At this time I also went on a psychic development course with the Angelight School of Spiritual and Psychic Advancement (A.S.S.P.A.) which increased my intuition and reading skills immensely.

Since this time I have continued to provide online readings for both free and for donations. I have also sold readings through Ebay and Etsy. I am now a registered member of the Tarot Association of the British Isles (T.A.B.I.) and also am a free reader on BiddyTarot.com

My Life Goals

My goals in life change and vary depending on other factors. However, there are always those that remain solid in one form or another. Here are some of my life goals, which are not all related to tarot!

  • Become a professional tarot reader: "What? You're not a professional tarot reader?" Well, technically, no! This is a hobby to me right now though I would very much love to go pro! I do sell my readings but I do not make enough to actually live off them. I hope that one day, with enough exposure I can become a full-time tarot reader! Of course I will also offer other services and products along with my readings and to supplement my income.
  • Become more confident: All my life I have suffered rather extreme anxiety. This is a side-effect of a rough childhood and other past events. However I am working through these issues with the help of the tarot. I wanted to share this goal as I want to dispell the idea that all tarot readers or spiritual workers are perfect, enlightened beings. We're all human! When I gain more confidence, I hope to do face-to-face readings at Mind, Body and Spirit fairs!
  • Help establish a Shinto shrine in the UK: I am the sole owner of the UK Shinto Society, but work with various other Japanese and Western Shintoists to try and promote and educate on the Shinto faith. We feel that Shinto is a perfect faith for the now, a gentle Earth-based religion that has many ancient lessons to share. Having a shrine in the UK would help show what Shinto is really about and give access to spiritual help to millions of people across the UK and Europe.
  • Become Multi-lingual: I am a great lover of languages and cannot help myself when presented with learning resources! I am currently learning Norwegian as a second language! There are many other languages which I want to learn: Japanese, Welsh, Spanish, Portuguese, just to name a few! Wish me luck, I'm certainly going to need it!
  • Travel the World: This World is a beautiful and wonderful gift to us all and I feel that I have only skimmed the surface in terms of travelling it! I wish to take more risks and visit as many places as I can. Of course, my number one place I want to visit is Japan, where I wish to visit Fushimi Inari Taisha as a pilgrimage.
Fushimi Inari Taisha

And that is a bit about me! I hope it didn't bore you too much! I'm going to have a think about what posts to make on here and create a schedule soon. I love blogging and talking to you all and I'm so happy to finally be doing it about tarot!

Warm wishes,
Matt
